install AC

At time its hard to imagine how a few decades ago most homes did not have an AC system. It almost seems as if the weather is hotter today than it was 40 years ago.

Nevertheless, every new home is build with an ac system now. Moreover, many of the older homes have installed an ac unit over the years, while many still call for install of a new ac unit. Although many of your customers, especially by the beach (Newport Beach, Huntington Beach, Laguna Beach etc), claim they do not need an ac unit, we strongly recommend to have one available for the extreme heat days of the year.

Install AC Unit If You Do Not Have One Yet

Many of the older homes, and especially condos, were built without an ac unit installed. In addition, many of these homes do not have a set up for an ac installation. Therefore, in order to install a new ac unit, quite often we will have to run coils from the ac locating outside, into the house and to the furnace box. Because these installs of ac units from scratch are a bit more complicated, we strongly recommend to work on it before the hot season begin, so you can be better prepared.

When Should I Replace My Old AC & Install New AC

Mainly your ac unit is composed of a condenser that creates the pressure in the coils which pull the heat out of your home. By pulling the heat out of your home, the ac unit is able to cool it. an ac does not cool your home, it simply removes heat.
Therefore, in case of a leak anywhere along the coils, the right pressure can not be preserved, leading to the coils to freeze and the ac not to work.

Years Of Wear & Tear To Your AC Unit

Over the years with the extreme pressure and temperature around and inside the coils, there could be a weakening in some spots and therefore, have a leak. Mostly we find that leaks begin after 10-15 years after the ac unit was installed. In addition, proper maintenance can prolong the life of the ac unit and the condenser. However, with lack of proper maintenance, extra burden and heating could happen to the condenser, which will lead to its failure.
In the older unit with a failed condenser, or leaky coils, it is common to replace the old ac with an install of a new ac unit. As mentioned before, we typically estimate 10-20 years of good operation, again, really depending on how well you maintain your ac unit.
